Magazine Proposal
My magazine title would be called, Major Decisions. Students these days try to research what school has what major, and how good or what ranking is that school in that particular field. This magazine will go in depth into all state and university schools to determine what school has what majors and their ranking in each major. Students often research what school are good at what, but often different websites and different magazines have different rankings. Some students might see a well known school in the top 5 in one category of a major, and then on another site or magazine that school won't even crack the top ten. Our magazine will have researchers and scholar appraisals. Our magazine will go into each and every major that every school contains, and will provide critical information about them. Our target will be students starting from age 16-18 to 28-30, of course to both males and females. Obviously our magazine is open to people of older ages as well, but these ages will be our main target. Income level, ethnicity, race, religion also make no difference. We want to aim to help every student without any variables. Our competitors include well known magazines such as U.S. Magazine, Business Weekly, and Forbes. The difference with my magazine is that we dedicate and devote all our time researching schools, majors, and each schools rankings in the U.S. . While our competitors have so many other topics to cover it will be tough for them to spend too much time into particular schools and majors. They will obviously do their research on the a few of the impacted majors and the obvious schools. My magazine will have thorough information and facts about every major of every school, including the majors specialty. For example a student wants to do business, but once you do business their are so many different fileds like accounting, finance, international management, etc. We would excel in the specialty of majors, because our biggest competitors only go over the broad fields. Some advertisers may include, government grants, scholarships. housing, books, and online schools or degrees. We will have a variety of articles on the premier issue. The first articles will be on how our magazine beat out our top competitors. Second will be about which majors make the most money. Third will be an article trying to help you find a major for your career. What are the best schools for your particular major will be our fourth article. Our last article will talk about schools for "B" and "C" students.

Books
Books have been apart of my entire life, and I'm not much of a reader. I only read when I have to for school, otherwise you'll never see me come 10 feet within a book. I've read so many books that by default I had to like some of them. My favorite book ever, is What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20, by Tina Seelig. This book is easily my favorite book is because the book illustrates how people who are successful have struggled in their professional fields. These people who failed originally did not quit on themselves, instead they got back up from falling and worked on what they did wrong. When people hear stories about failing at first before becoming successful, it tends to stick with them for awhile or forever. Amazing book, I recommend to EVERYONE. 1984, by George Orwell was is also one of my favorite books. The truth about this book was that I didn't read the book that much, until my teacher would go over the what we read in class. I really started to read the book towards the climax of the book. When the main character and his girlfriend make a pact to not give up their secrets to the authority, is something that might stay with me forever. The couple were tested by the government about their secrets and they both folded and could not resist the torture. I don't remember if not at the end of the book when they meet in the cafe, if either said if they lied to keep their promise in tact. Another interesting thing about this book that was interesting was that the author would make predictions of the future, which has come true today. Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury is the last book I enjoyed reading. What caught my attention in this book is the fact the firemen were starting fires to burn books. This might be ironic for a guy that hates book, but I would never want to books burned. Books have so much power and knowledge in them that they should never be burned. I thought the role of Big Brother, who watches everything you do, was also something that caught my eye. The rebel in this book who refuses to burn books, is actually told on by his wife. He eventually fled to where he could not be found.

Media Impact
Terrell Owens is a wide receiver in the NFL. The media has always scrutinized Owens and his business of doing things. Owens has been blamed for killing teams chemistry and always throwing the quarterback under the bus. ESPN has always given Owens a bad reputation of being a bad person and teammate. As a result people always get the wrong impression of what type of person Owens actually is. Teams have been reluctant to sign a Hall of Fame player, because of the scrutiny he has received from the media. Owens can be labeled as misunderstood, because the media has misinterpreted him. The media is slow to realize how great of a player he is, and al the good things things he does on the field, but they are quick to amplify his mistakes. As a result of his misunderstood examination he blames the media for his reputation.

Media Autobiography
Books, Newspapers, Magazines, Movies, Recordings, Radio, Television and the Internet are the eight types of mass media that have been incorporated in my life. Some of these different medias have been implicated more than the others. I am not the type of person who reads books for fun, in fact the only time I read is when I have to for school. Half the time I did not even read the books in high school, because I disliked reading that much. I did appreciate some of the assigned books I had to read. Lord of the Flies, 1984, Death of a Salesman, Fahrenheit 451 and What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20, were the books I thought to be the most interesting and enjoyable to read. When I was younger my mom and I would both always buy the newspaper. The only section I would read was the sports section. As I grew older, my mom and I stopped buying the newspaper. I would try to get the newspaper for free whenever the Mercury News had a promotion, so that I could read the sports section. Now I only read the newspaper when I am in a waiting lobby. I was never to big into magazines. I never subscribed to any magazines, I just was not really into magazines as a child or even now, though I did just get a free subscription from Forbes. Movies have always been apart and will always be apart of my life. I've never met anyone who doesn't appreciate or enjoy movies. I try to go to the movies as often as possible, but I have been on a drought recently. I think the last movie I saw was Inception. How crazy of a director does one have to be to come up with that kind of story plot? It was an amazing movie to say the least. Recordings as far as music goes has been very important to me. Music has been known as the heart of the soul. I love to listen to music everyday in my life. I am more of an AM radio person than the FM radio. I am a huge sports fan so I constantly listen to KNBR 680. Do I even need to mention the greatness of TV. TV is one of the best things created by man himself, ever. Internet is also very important to almost everyone nowadays. Their is so much to do on the computer, which makes it so valuable. TV, Internet, Music, and Radio are the more paramount of the eight medias. I do not really intend to do something in mass media, but that does not mean it is not interesting and fun to learn about.
